Con le sorprendenti prestazioni di Sudafrica e Stati uniti, milioni di persone hanno nel frattempo scoperto le gesta di Pienaar, Ruth o Donovan, e gli appassionati del calcio vero hanno già assaporato più gusto. Diverso l’umore attorno agli azzurri, tornati da Johannesburg con un bilancio decisamente inferiore alle aspettative. Marcello Lippi avrà di che lavorare, e le occasioni del resto non mancheranno: a settembre ci saranno altre due partite che contano, quelle per la qualificazione effettiva ai mondiali del prossimo anno.
