cape-town-green-point-stadium-by-night300.jpgThree and a half millions of people, with 1,5 million of tourists. These are the previews of people willing to go in Southafrica during 2010 World cup, up to Southafrican tourism board in Italy. According to them, 100.000 certified rooms are ready, almost twice the Fifa request of 55.000. Where will other visitors sleep? In B&B, lodges, private houses, it seems. The Board also previews now more people from Italy: last august 12.661 of them flew to the country, 21,6 % more of the same month of 2008, and 6,5 % more from january til august.

(more…)

  • Chapeau, France football

(more…)

Arrivederci Springboks, onore agli azzurri.

  • Italy vs. Springboks, almost the best

courtesy of lastampa.itTen points are not the maximum, but not he minimun too for italian rugby. Today’s match result (32-10) in Udine, italy ist the best of ever for ‘azzurri’ against Southafrican rugby. Much better than 10 years ago, when Nick Mallet was Springboks coach and they won 101-0. Today we regret for some bad kicks in the match, but Garcia’s half was a great one. See you Springboks, proud to have seen azzurri.

  • habana (from lastampa.it)“June 25th, 1995 is a day that changed my life. When Southafrica won its first Rugby World cup, I was at the stadium with my father. Next to us there was a white, blond afrikaan guy: at the end of the match he gave a big hug to dad: I understood how important was that day for our country”.  That’s one of the answers that Bryan Habana gives in an interview published today on La Stampa, one of major italian daily newspaper. “I don’t feel black; I feel Southafrican” says Habana, that this afternoon will match Italy with Springboks in Udine, for a test-match: “a rugby team can’t be made in a night – also says Habana, about italian team – they’re improving, you don’t have to hurry them up”.
