Now for real, it’s time to Go2010

cape-town-green-point-stadium-by-night300.jpgWe started one and a half year ago. It was like a joke, and still it is. We’ve been writing about two countries, their links and their differences; looking at a year, the 2010, expected to be an historic one, not only for football. Now this year is beginning: actually it doesn’t matter who’ll win the World cup. Our hope is for Southafrica to carry the show on. We hope that country to be a little better after the event, and the whole world to learn something from it, Italy included. The game starts now, and will go on after july 11th, hoping to win together. So, now, let’s go2010…

E allora, avanti col 2010…

  • Soccer Mazinga in Soweto

(thanks to westcapenews.com)When he was playing in Bari, Italy, between 1997 and 2001, his supporters used to call him “Mazinga”, like the japanese cartoon hero. In 1998 he took part in a cosmic event: he was one of the players of the first southafrican soccer team to take part in a world cup. (more…)

(more…)

  • A scene from a supermarket in medium-size italian town, a few minuits after tre 2010 WC Draw…

Employee 1: “uhm..Slovackia is the time who qualified for first time in a world cup, isn’t it?”

Employee 2: “Yes it is. Mr. Lippi is still the same lucky man..”

    E. 1: “What about France? Will it match against Brazil?”

    E. 2: “No, France will meet Southafrica. Brazil have had Portugal an Ivory Coast”

    E. 1: “What?! That’s a tough group, indeed!”

Sun has gone down in a cold, rainy italian day. The last working day before a for-days holiday. Most of people hasn’t changed its dayplan to watch the draw. Anyway, World cup fever has started to grow, and you can see it in some little things, like friends who talk immediately about it. Just an appetizer, thinking at june 11th or 14th, when Cape town will host Italy-paraguay. Today people comes back talking about italian championship. But fever is already in the air.
