Con l’eliminazione del Ghana, dai mondiali di Sudafrica esce in pratica tutto il continente. Nessuna delle squadre africane, apparentemente, è riuscita a far meglio di quanto fatto in passato da Camerun e Senegal. In realtà non è esattamente così: giocarsi l’esito di una partita ai rigori è un po’ come farlo tramite una lotteria: per certo, al termine delle azioni giocate il Ghana non era stato sconfitto, e questo è già un progresso rispetto al passato. C’è poi un’altra partita che, tramite il Sudafrica, l’intero continente sta ancora giocando: può vincerla se riesce a dimostrare di essere all’altezza dell’organizzazione di un evento come i Mondiali di calcio, aggiungendo un qualcosa chiamato ‘ubuntu’ che i precedenti paesi ospitanti non erano riusciti ad offire. Per sapere l’esito dobbiamo attendere un’altra settimana: probabilmente, non ci sarà bisogno di andare ai rigori.

Because of Ghana’s defeat, the whole african continent now is out of the world cup. Black stars were not able to get beyond what Cameroon and Senegal did in the past. Actually, to end a match by penalties is like doing it by a lotery; at the end of played match Ghana wasn’t defeated, and that’s an improvement for sure. Most of all, there’s one more match the whole continent is still playing thanks to southafrica. It could win it if it shows to know how to manage the organization of a giant event like a World cup, adding it with something special, named ‘ubuntu’, that previous organizer nations didn’t show.  We’ve to wait one more week to know the result: probably, there’ll be no need of penalties.

Germany have always been involved in the World cup since 1954, winning it three times (1954, 1974, 1990). Moreover, they also got the third place 3 times, and the fourth one. Opposite situation for Australia, who played in the final tournament only in 1974 and again in 2006, when there was also Ghana for its first appearance. More present the Serbia’s team, who got the fourh place in two (1930 and 1962) of the ten times he was in.
