Italian ways of using vuvuzela are spreading. On july 2^nd,, just outside Florence, many tuscan mayors used the southafrican trumpet to support the protest against the rise of highway bills. During the following night, in the city of Siena, after the end of the “Palio” horse-race, the “valdimontone” (ram) fans used it to underline the big defeat of their rivals, the “Nicchio” (niche) who were the most exptected to win the race. One week later, the fans of Selva (Rhino’s district) used the vv during the official march of celebration for their victory in the Palio of july 2nd, 2010 (see above in the Fabio Di Pietro’s photo) 

L’uso delle vuvuzela in Italia abbatte nuove frontiere della fantasia. Venerdì 2 luglio alcuni sindaci toscani hanno fatto ricorso alle trombe sudafricane durante la manifestazione di protesta contro l’aumento del pedaggi autostradale in uscita a Firenze certosa. Più tardi a Siena, nella notte, i contradaioli del Valdimontone hanno fatto una sonora incursione nel territorio dei rivali, quelli del Nicchio, per sottolineare la loro sconfitta nel primo Palio del 2010, in cui erano fortemente favoriti.
